Zubaida Bai is what you get when the design-sensibility of Steve Jobs and the passion for women’s rights of Audre Lorde meet up in one firecracker of a human. She applies her unique combination of training in both engineering and business to develop simple, affordable solutions for underserved women. Zubaida is the founder of ayzh (pronounced “eyes”), a social business that has created everything from a menstrual hygiene kit to a clean birth kit in a purse. She has been recognized as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, a Maternal Health Champion by Ashoka, and a 2016 Sustainable Development Goals Pioneer by the United Nations Global Compact.

In 2016, she was part of the TED Residency, where she gave a talk and captured the imagination of many of those who had never thought about how solvable so many of the world’s most seemingly wicked problems really are. Audiences leave her lectures with a renewed sense of hope for some of the world’s most vulnerable people and practical ideas of how to be agents of change themselves.

A transformative leader has a vision of success beyond one’s self.
