Silvia Mera works at the intersection of business, finance, and human rights. With a career spanning leadership roles in nonprofit organizations, investment stewardship, and global supply chain operations, Silvia is a passionate advocate for responsible business conduct as a practice that protects people, sustains businesses, and creates long-term value.
She played a pioneering role in establishing Hong Kong’s first business association dedicated to addressing modern slavery, at a time when the issue was far from mainstream or widely linked to business operations. Silvia has since inspired and advised civil society organizations and multinational corporations across the fashion, finance, and hospitality sectors on topics including responsible recruitment, just transition, child labor, and community engagement. She has also helped survivors of child labor share their powerful stories. In 2020, she led her team to win a Thought Leadership Award from Public Affairs Asia.
Silvia brings energy, credibility, and practical insight to every audience. She has spoken events in over 10 countries, including the United Nations Business and Human Rights Forum, the OECD Due Diligence Forum, and the OSCE’s Alliance against Trafficking in Persons Conference. She has been interviewed by Devex, Intertek, and the Dutch Government’s Netherlands Enterprise Agency and has delivered seminars at LUISS University in Rome and the Asian University for Women in Bangladesh. An Italian national, Silvia is currently based in the Netherlands after a decade living in Hong Kong, China.
