Sohini Bhattacharya is CEO of Breakthrough India, a global human right’s organization working to end violence against women and girls. She brings 30 years of experience of working in human rights and her deep knowledge on the issue of violence against women, fundraising, and entrepreneurship.
Before Breakthrough, she worked with Ashoka Innovators for the Public for a decade to raise awareness on social entrepreneurship across India and ramp up its operations in South Asia. She is also the co-founder of Sanhita Gender Resource Centre — the first of its kind in Calcutta; working closely with traditional craftspeople and building artisan-market interfaces across India with Dastkar; and building communications, raising funds and helping set up livelihoods programmes for rural women with CINI-Child In Need Institute. Sohini also worked as the India strategy advisor for the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network from 2010-2013. Sohini is a board member for 3 small and mid-size organisations, sharing everything she has learnt with them.
