Talia Grossman was born profoundly deaf and wears cochlear implants. Her public speaking career began at a young age when she spoke to middle school classrooms about deafness and disability advocacy. She has also spoken at several fundraisers for the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund (now known as Fanconi Cancer Foundation)–the disease took her brother’s life in early 2021. Talia has since been diagnosed with other disabilities and recently expanded her public speaking engagements to teach professionals about the importance of disability justice. In early 2024, Talia was the guest speaker at an institute day for a special education cooperative in suburban Chicago, where she gave two three-hour interactive presentations about being successful despite living with various disabilities.
Talia is also a Washington, D.C. based attorney at the National Women’s Law Center (the “Center”) where she focuses on housing policy. Through her position at the Center, Talia has given presentations on how women, especially women of color and disabled women, and LGBTQIA+ people are disproportionately impacted by the housing crisis.
